Jigawa Commemorates 1906 Anti-Colonial Resistance Event

Jigawa State is set to commemorate the 1906 anti-colonial resistance with a two-day event scheduled for April 24-25 in Hadejia. The chairman of the organizing committee, Alhaji Usman Abdul Aziz, disclosed during a press conference that the event aims to instill courage and reinforce the values of preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Hadejia people.

This historical encounter in 1906 involved approximately 800 Hadejia warriors, including Emir Alhaji Muhammad Mai Shahada, who faced British forces resulting in casualties. The event will include guided visits to historical sites and the unveiling of a book that provides a comprehensive account of the incident, authored by the late Professor Haruna Wakili in collaboration with historians.
