Jihadist Violence Spreads to North-Central Nigeria, Heightening Fears of Increased Terrorist Activities

Jihadist violence has extended to North-Central Nigeria, with attacks by terrorist groups like Jama'atu Ahli Sunna Lidda'awati Wal-Jihad (JAS) and splinter factions such as Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) spreading to Niger and Kwara states. The recent attacks in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State have raised concerns about the escalating terrorist violence in the region.

The terrorists, believed to be collaborating with Boko Haram factions, are operating in the border areas of Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso, using the Kainji National Park ecosystem as a strategic rear base. The attacks have targeted villages, farms, and schools, leading to fatalities and abductions, with fears of further violence looming.
