JNI Reports Four Killed, Ten Missing in Plateau Attack

The Jama'atu Nasril Islam (JNI) confirmed that four of its members were killed and ten others are missing following an attack in Anguwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State, on Sunday night. The attack, which occurred around 7:30 PM, involved gunmen dressed in military camouflage who opened fire on residents, triggering panic and forcing many to flee.

Initial reports indicated that 14 people were killed during the assault, but the death toll has since risen to at least 27. In response to the violence, angry youths protested, blocking roads and targeting motorcyclists.

The JNI's statement, signed by Dr. Salim Musa Umar, confirmed that two injured victims are currently receiving treatment.

The Plateau State government has imposed a curfew in the affected area to restore order, and security forces have been deployed to maintain peace. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend the attackers and warned against the spread of misinformation that could escalate tensions.
