JOHESU Suspends Strike After Lagos Assembly Intervention

The Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) has officially suspended its strike after intervention from the Lagos State House of Assembly. This decision was announced in a statement signed by Kabiawu Gbolahan, the Lagos State chapter's union secretary.

The suspension follows extensive consultations with relevant stakeholders, including the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and Joint Negotiating Council (JNC). JOHESU emphasized that its members would not face penalties for participating in the strike and assured that no member would be victimized.

The Lagos State government confirmed that an agreement was reached during a high-level meeting aimed at resolving the dispute, which led to the immediate suspension of the strike. The government reaffirmed its commitment to addressing the union's demands and restoring normal operations in healthcare facilities across the state.

The union's leadership stated that the decision to suspend the strike was made in consideration of public health interests and the need for ongoing dialogue.
