John Oyeniyi Becomes Delta State's 24th Police Commissioner

John Oyeniyi assumed office as the 24th Police Commissioner of Delta State on October 10, 2023, succeeding Aina Adesola, who has been redeployed to a new assignment at the police headquarters in Abuja. Oyeniyi was born on March 5, 1969, in Oyun Local Government Area, Kwara State.

He holds a B.Sc. in Sociology from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and an M.Sc. in Public Order and Information Management from the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. He also possesses a diploma from the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management in Lagos.

Oyeniyi enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force on June 10, 1994, and completed his training at the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano State. His previous roles include serving in various capacities within the Delta State Police Command from 2000 to 2005 and holding positions in Akwa Ibom State and other states.

He has also participated in peacekeeping missions in Sudan from 2007 to 2010. Oyeniyi's extensive experience includes roles in administration, investigation, and training within the police force.
