Delta Police Commissioner Warns Against Unprofessional Conduct

On Thursday, Delta State Police Commissioner Yemi John Oyeniyi issued a warning to officers regarding unprofessional conduct, indiscipline, and abuse of human rights while off duty. This warning was delivered during a maiden press briefing at the Asaba Police Command headquarters, where Oyeniyi emphasized the need for accountability within the force.

He stated that the command's focus would shift towards preventing crime rather than merely reacting to it. Plans include increasing police presence in communities and strengthening intelligence gathering to work closely with residents to improve security.

Additionally, Inspector General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu has directed the need to streamline operational tactics across commands to eliminate duplicative duties and enhance accountability. The aim is to ensure that tactical deployments are intelligence-driven and result-oriented, particularly in addressing issues such as kidnapping, armed robbery, and cult activities.

Oyeniyi reaffirmed the commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property in Delta State.
