Abimbola Olugbenga Becomes Oyo State Police Commissioner

Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga has taken office as the 48th Commissioner of Police for Oyo State, effective April 1, 2025. His appointment was announced by the Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, DSP Olayinka Ayanlad.

Olugbenga, who holds a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has undergone several professional courses, including citizenship leadership and tactical leadership training. He joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent on June 10, 1994, and has served in various capacities across multiple states, including Lagos, Abia, Delta, Borno, Kano, Yobe, Kogi, and Bauchi.

His previous roles include Deputy Commissioner of Police in Oyo State and head of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Force at the Abuja headquarters. Olugbenga is recognized for his proactive policing strategies and has earned commendations for his dedication and bravery throughout his career.

He aims to enhance public confidence in the police and strengthen security in Oyo State.
