Abimbola Olugbenga Becomes New Oyo State Police Commissioner

Abimbola Olugbenga has been appointed as the 49th Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, officially taking charge following the tenure of Olufemi Haruna, the 48th Commissioner, who served until April 1, 2025. The announcement was made by the police public relations officer, DSP Ayanlad Olayinka.

Olugbenga, a graduate in Sociology from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has built a career within the Nigeria Police Force since June 10, 1994, and has undergone extensive professional training, including courses at the Police Staff College in Jos and the National Institute for Police Studies in Abuja. Throughout his career, he has served in various capacities across multiple states, including Lagos, Abia, Delta, Borno, Kano, Yobe, Oyo, Kogi, and Bauchi, handling operational, investigative, and administrative roles.

His previous positions include serving as the Division Police Officer in Delta State and as the Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations in Oyo State. Olugbenga's leadership is expected to strengthen public confidence in the police and enhance security measures.
