Kebbi Commissioner Warns Cleric Against Political Criticism

Muhammad Zuru, the Kebbi State Commissioner for Religious Affairs, issued a warning to cleric Malam Bashir Jega regarding his public criticisms of the state government, led by Governor Nasir Idris. Zuru stated that Jega's comments were unsubstantiated and could incite public unrest.

He urged religious leaders to refrain from making statements that could disturb peace in the state. Zuru highlighted the government's commitment to religious development, citing the establishment of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Hisbah Board, Zakat Board, and Preach Board as evidence of their efforts.

He affirmed that the administration holds religious leaders in high regard but will not permit individuals to use religion as a cover for political motives. Zuru advised Jega to engage constructively with the government rather than making inflammatory remarks, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace in Kebbi State.
