Kebbi Governor Calls for Peace After Deadly Clash

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris appealed for calm in the Alwasa community of Argungu Local Government Area after a deadly clash that claimed three lives. The violence reportedly began when misunderstandings arose between Hausa and Fulani residents, triggered by an incident involving Fulani youth performing motorcycle stunts.

This confrontation escalated, leading to retaliatory attacks that resulted in two deaths. Governor Idris, during a spot assessment visit on Tuesday, condemned the violence and warned that anyone involved in the killings would face the full weight of the law.

He emphasized the importance of dialogue and restraint among community leaders and youth to restore peace. The governor also directed security agencies to intensify investigations to track down perpetrators and ensure the safe return of displaced residents.

Local authorities confirmed the deployment of security personnel to restore order and prevent further escalation, highlighting the fragile balance in rural communities often affected by land use disputes.
