Kebbi Government Warns Religious Leaders Against Incitement

The Kebbi State Government, under the leadership of Governor Nasir Idris, has issued a warning to religious leaders to refrain from inciting public unrest. During a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi, Muhammad Sani Aliyu, representing the Commission for Religious Affairs, addressed recent criticisms from Islamic preacher Malam Bashir Jega.

Jega had made claims suggesting that the current administration has not made significant contributions to the development of Islam in the state. Aliyu countered these assertions, stating that they are misleading and distort the reality of the government's achievements.

He highlighted the establishment of the Ministry of Religious Affairs as a significant milestone that fulfills a long-standing aspiration of the Kebbi people, which had not been realized in the previous twenty-five years. The government aims to strengthen religious institutions, including the Zakat and Waqf Board, the Preach Board, and the Hisbah Commission.
