Otti Urges Citizens to Engage in Politics for Change

During a keynote address titled "The Role of the Church in Societal Transformation," Abia State Governor Alex Otti called on citizens to participate actively in politics to address Nigeria's leadership crisis. Speaking on Saturday in Abuja at a conference for church leaders, Otti highlighted the church's historical influence in shaping society and stressed that citizens should not remain passive in the political process.

He argued that the church must move beyond traditional welfare approaches and adopt initiatives that promote self-reliance among its members. Otti noted that political engagement is essential for achieving good governance and that individuals within the political system can bring integrity and honor.

He also mentioned the importance of voter registration and active participation in elections. Otti concluded by warning against political apathy, citing a quote from Bertolt Brecht, and emphasized that spiritual intervention alone cannot resolve governance challenges without active citizen involvement.
