Tinubu Meets Plateau Attack Victims at Jos Airport

On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu met with victims of the Plateau attacks at Jos Airport, as explained by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga. The decision to meet the victims was influenced by the president's busy schedule, which included engagements with Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno and Ogun State Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

Despite public criticism, the visit was framed as a strategic engagement to address the root causes of conflict and insecurity in Plateau State. The visit faced logistical challenges due to the distance from the airport to Jos township and the absence of navigational aids for night flights.

Consequently, the meeting with victims was held in a hall adjacent to the airport. Tinubu's visit aimed to console victims, interact with local leaders, and assure them of federal support in delivering justice and ending cycles of violence.

He also promised to deploy 5,000 AI-enabled cameras to enhance security and invited community leaders to Abuja for further discussions.
