Kebbi Journalists Reject Claims of Media Underreporting

Journalists in Kebbi State have dismissed claims made by former Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) president Abdul Wahe Umar regarding media underreporting of the Kebbi state government's achievements. During a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday, NUJ Kebbi State Chapter chairman Alhaji Kabiru Wurma characterized Umar's remarks as misleading and an apparent attempt to impress Governor Nasir Idris.

Wurma expressed surprise at Umar's claims, noting that the current digital media landscape allows for real-time updates and extensive coverage of government initiatives. He emphasized that the media has consistently reported on the tangible progress and milestones achieved by the Idris administration.

Wurma also highlighted that no governor in Nigeria enjoys consistent media coverage like Governor Idris. He questioned Umar's knowledge of projects in Kebbi, suggesting that a simple online search would reveal the extensive reporting done by journalists in the state.

Wurma called on Umar to retract his statement, asserting that it undermines the work of journalists.
