Abia Labour Party Urges Voter Registration on June 12

The Abia State chapter of the Labour Party issued a statement on Saturday, signed by state party chairman Peter Azubuik, recognizing June 12 as a historic symbol of the struggle for freedom and justice. The party highlighted that democracy flourishes when citizens actively participate in the electoral process.

It called on eligible residents to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission, urging young men and women who recently turned 18 to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC). The Labour Party emphasized that the PVC is a powerful tool for citizens to elect leaders, hold governments accountable, and protect good governance for future generations.

The party warned that failing to register risks surrendering democratic voices and encouraged community leaders, religious institutions, youth organizations, and civil society groups to support voter registration campaigns. The statement concluded with a call for collective action to strengthen democracy and secure a brighter future for Abia State.
