ADC to Petition ECOWAS Court Over Assassination Attempt

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) announced its intention to petition the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) court regarding an assassination attempt on its leaders, Peter Obi and John Oyegun, which occurred in Edo State. The ADC described the gun attack as a serious threat and part of a growing pattern of political intimidation and terror against opposition parties across Nigeria.

The party accused the state governor of making inflammatory remarks that heighten political tension and endanger the safety of its members. The ADC emphasized that Nigeria is not a private estate and that the governor, as an elected official, should not threaten or harass political actors exercising their democratic rights.

The ADC plans to compile evidence of the attack as an act of terror against its members and will submit its findings to diplomatic missions and the ECOWAS court. The party urged its members to remain vigilant and continue their political activities without fear.
