ADC Links Attack on Peter Obi to Edo Governor's Threat

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed grave concern over an attack on its leader, Peter Obi, which they believe is linked to a threat issued by the Edo State governor last year. The governor had warned Obi against visiting Edo State, which the ADC claims created an atmosphere of fear and intimidation.

Bolaji Abdullah, the ADC spokesman, stated that the party did not anticipate such threats, including potential assassination plots. The ADC emphasized that violence and intimidation have no place in a democratic society and reaffirmed its commitment to continue political activities peacefully.

Dr. Yunusa Tanko, Obi's former campaign spokesman, raised alarms about the attack, which allegedly involved thugs linked to the ADC's former national chairman, John Odigi Oyegun.

The incident reportedly occurred during the gubernatorial campaign of Olumid Akpata of the Labour Party, highlighting the dangers faced by democratic processes in Nigeria.
