Gunmen Attack Edo ADC Secretariat After Peter Obi's Visit

On a Tuesday, gunmen attacked the Edo State secretariat of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) shortly after a visit by Labour Party's presidential candidate, Peter Obi. The attack occurred on Ogbelaka Street off Sokponba Road, where the assailants fired sporadically, damaging property and injuring party members present.

The ADC's national leader, Chief John Odigi Oyegun, reported that the attackers arrived in an unmarked Sienna vehicle and on motorcycles. The incident was described as a potential assassination attempt, with several vehicles, including those of dignitaries like Obi and Olumid Akpata, sustaining damage.

ADC chairman Kennedi Odion blamed the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the attack, while APC chairman Jarret Teneb denied involvement, attributing the violence to internal faction disputes within the ADC. The Edo State police confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are ongoing, while the state government dismissed allegations of involvement by its officials.
