APC Declares Caleb Mutfwang as Governorship Candidate

Caleb Mutfwang has been declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Plateau State following the party's primary election held on a Wednesday. The APC committee, chaired by Fide Mnyim, announced the results on Friday night, confirming that Mutfwang won in all 17 local government areas of the state with a total of 233,335 votes.

His opponent, Yilcini Bida, a retired military officer, received only 3,070 votes. Mutfwang's candidacy comes after he formally resigned from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) on December 29, 2025, citing a need for clarity in service delivery.

The APC aims to consolidate support across the state as they prepare for the upcoming campaign. Rufu Batur, the APC state chairman, expressed gratitude to the electorate and the committee for conducting a free and fair primary election.

Mutfwang previously won the governorship election on March 18, 2023, under the PDP but faced legal challenges that were later resolved in his favor.
