Appeal Court Bans PDP Convention in Ibadan, Awards Costs

The Appeal Court has upheld a ban on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from holding its convention in Ibadan, scheduled for November 14-15, 2025. This decision came after a three-man panel dismissed an appeal filed by a faction of the PDP led by Kabiru Turaki, a former Minister of Special Duties.

The court affirmed the lower court's judgment, which barred the party from proceeding with the convention based on the argument that the Federal High Court had the jurisdiction to entertain the suit. The panel ruled that the dispute was a matter of internal party affairs and not subject to repackaging as a violation of the party's constitution.

Consequently, the appeal was dismissed, and the court awarded N2 million in costs against the appellants.
