Army Captain and Two Soldiers Killed in Katsina Battle

On March 6, 2026, a military operation in Katsina State led by the Nigerian Army resulted in the neutralization of 45 bandits following a fierce gun battle. The clash occurred when troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Dan Ali engaged heavily armed bandits who were advancing towards Musawa Local Government Area.

This confrontation was a response to an earlier attack on Alhazawa Village on March 5, where bandits attempted to rustle cattle, leading to the death of four assailants. The bandits regrouped and returned in larger numbers for a revenge mission.

Despite the successful neutralization of the bandits, the operation came at a high cost, with Captain Paul Hassan and two soldiers losing their lives. Dr.

Nasir Mua Zu, the Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, commended the bravery of the troops and expressed condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers, reaffirming the commitment of security forces to pursue armed groups responsible for violence in the state.
