Boko Haram Kills Colonel and 21 Soldiers in Borno Attack

Boko Haram terrorists launched an attack on a military outpost in Monguno, Borno State, killing at least 22 members of the Nigerian Army, including Colonel Muhammad, who was attached to the 242 Battalion. This overnight assault occurred as the military was preparing to launch renewed offensives against the insurgents, who have intensified their attacks in the region, a hotspot for Boko Haram activities over the past 17 years.

The attack reportedly resulted in the deaths of at least six senior officers within the last two weeks. Following this incident, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged to intensify military action against the ongoing insurgency, which has been a significant challenge for his administration since its inception in 2009.
