Boko Haram Intensifies Attacks, Military Casualties Rise

Boko Haram has escalated its attacks on military bases in North-East Nigeria, leading to the deaths of at least two officers and several soldiers. Security analysts report that the insurgents launched at least six attacks across Borno and Yobe states over the past week, targeting military hardware and attempting to overwhelm troop positions.

Major General Sani Uba, a military spokesperson, confirmed that an unspecified number of soldiers were lost during these assaults. Earlier in the week, security analysts estimated that at least four military officers were killed in related attacks.

This surge in violence has triggered public anger towards President Bola Tinubu's administration, which is perceived to be focusing on political considerations ahead of the next presidential elections. The recent attacks mark a significant increase in coordinated assaults by Boko Haram and its faction ISWAP, which has been benefiting from the vulnerability of military bases.

Despite the deployment of at least 100 U.S. troops to assist Nigerian military training and logistics, the insurgents continue to exploit weaknesses in security.
