ADC Celebrates Court Ruling Upholding David Mark's Leadership

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) welcomed a ruling from the Federal High Court in Abuja that affirmed the leadership of David Mark as a member of the party's National Working Committee. The judgment was delivered in case number FHC/ABJ/CS/1637/2025, where Hon.
Leke Joseph Abejid was the plaintiff against the ADC and four others. Justice M.S.
Liman ruled that the court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the case, stating it was not a pre-election matter and fell outside the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court as per Section 251 of the 1999 Constitution. The judge also noted that the plaintiff lacked the locus standi to institute the suit and failed to exhaust the mandatory internal dispute resolution mechanisms provided by the ADC constitution.
Consequently, the suit was struck out for lack of jurisdiction. In response, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, ADC's National Publicity Secretary, described the ruling as a reaffirmation of the party's position that leadership issues are internal affairs and not justiciable under the Electoral Act 2022.
