El-Rufai Condemns Alleged Illegal Arrest Attempt by DSS at Abuja Airport

Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, denounced an alleged illegal arrest attempt by the Department of State Services (DSS) at the Abuja airport upon his return from Egypt. El-Rufai's lawyer issued a statement condemning the incident, claiming it was a violation of the rule of law.

El-Rufai's media advisor, Muyiwa Adekeye, reported that security personnel tried to arrest El-Rufai upon arrival but were refused as there was no formal invitation. Adekeye alleged that El-Rufai's passport was seized during the encounter.

El-Rufai, a chieftain of the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC), accused the ruling party of political pressure to force opposition politicians to defect. El-Rufai stated that it was only a matter of time before he faced arrest.
