El-Rufai Arrested by DSS Over Alleged Financial Crimes

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, was arrested and detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) after voluntarily presenting himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja. This occurred following an invitation related to allegations of financial improprieties during his tenure from 2015 to 2023.

Reports indicate that El-Rufai was involved in the misappropriation of N423 billion in public funds, leading to demands for investigation by the anti-graft agency. His arrest reportedly took place at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, where he was returning from Cairo, Egypt.

El-Rufai had previously appeared on Arise News, revealing that someone had tapped his phone, and he mentioned sensitive information regarding the National Security Adviser (NSA) and certain allegations involving a colorless poison from Poland. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has also been involved in the investigation.
