Adeyemi Fails to Appear in Court for Arraignment

Adeniyi Adeyemi did not appear in the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday for his scheduled arraignment regarding eight counts of charges filed by the Nigerian police, which include conspiracy and forgery. The case involves allegations that Adeyemi, along with two others, forged several government documents purportedly connected to the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Despite claims of being appointed as the director-general of the PFIPC, the Nigerian government, under President Bola Tinubu, has stated that no such agency exists. Adeyemi's legal representatives attended the court, but the judge did not require their presence for the proceedings.

The case has attracted national attention, particularly as the president has distanced himself from Adeyemi and the PFIPC. The arraignment has faced multiple delays, with the initial schedule set for earlier in the year being postponed due to health concerns raised by the defense.

Uncertainty remains regarding when the arraignment will eventually take place.
