FG Initiates Talks for UK-Degree Campus in Lagos

The Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by Dr. Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, has commenced discussions with Coventry University to establish a campus in Lagos that will offer UK-accredited degrees.

This announcement was made during Dr. Alausa's visit to London, where he highlighted the partnership's potential to enable Nigerian students to earn fully accredited UK degrees without leaving the country.

The proposed campus is set to be located in Alaro City, Lagos State, and will offer bachelor's and master's programs in various fields, including science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), medicine, business, technical, and vocational education and training (TVET). The initiative aims to strengthen Nigeria's human capital development by providing access to global educational opportunities while allowing parents to keep their children at home.

The expected admission timeline for the programs is the third to fourth quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approval.
