JUST IN: FG Confirms Casualties in Abuja–Kaduna Train Accident

The Federal Government has confirmed casualties in a train accident along the Abuja-Kaduna rail corridor. The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) reported that six passengers were injured and one fatality was recorded when the train derailed near Kilometre 49 between Kubwa Station and Asham Station.

The NSIB has deployed investigators to the site to collect evidence and engage relevant stakeholders to begin a probe into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Captain Alex Badeh of the NSIB stated that their priority is to uncover the root cause of the derailment and issue safety recommendations to prevent future incidents.

The derailment occurred shortly after the train departed from Abuja to Kaduna. The NSIB expressed deep sympathy for those injured and emphasized their commitment to ensuring safer rail transport through a transparent and independent investigation.
