FG Re-Arraigns Ex-AGF Malami and Son on Terrorism Charges

On Wednesday, the Federal Government re-arraigned former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and his son, Abdulaziz Abubakar Malami, at the Federal High Court in Abuja on amended terrorism charges. The new charges were presented by the prosecution, led by Akinlolu Kehinde, SAN, who informed the court of the intention to substitute the earlier charges.

The defense counsel, Shuaibu Arua, SAN, confirmed that they did not object to the amendments. Justice Abdulmalik struck out the former charges and the defendants pleaded not guilty to the five counts.

The court granted a request to maintain the earlier bail of N200 million with two sureties, which was initially granted on February 27. The prosecution is set to call witnesses and tender exhibits to support its case.

The charges stem from allegations that the defendants engaged in acts of terrorism and unlawfully possessed firearms in December 2025 in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.
