Babachir Lawal Meets NDC Leaders Amid Party Shift Speculation

Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, visited the residence of Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, the former Bayelsa State Governor and National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), for a closed-door meeting. This visit follows Lawal's resignation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in June, after Atiku Abubakar was declared the party's presidential candidate.

Lawal accused the ADC's presidential primary of being manipulated to favor Atiku, claiming that results were "written or rewritten" and that candidates were replaced by those loyal to Atiku. He expressed that supporting Atiku would inadvertently aid Bola Tinubu's re-election, stating he would prefer Tinubu over Atiku.

Lawal's meeting with Dickson and other NDC leaders has sparked speculation regarding his potential transition to the NDC as he engages in opposition efforts ahead of the 2027 election.
