Gawuna Resigns from APC, Sparks Political Speculation

Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, who was the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Kano State during the 2023 elections, has announced his resignation from the party, effective March 29, 2026. In his resignation letter addressed to the party chairman, Gawuna expressed gratitude for the opportunities he enjoyed as a member of the APC but did not disclose details regarding his future political plans.

Shortly after announcing his resignation, Gawuna visited former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, which has stirred reactions within political circles. The meeting has been interpreted as part of broader consultations to shape the political direction in Kano State as the next elections approach.

Gawuna, who previously served as the deputy governor under former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, remains a significant figure in Kano politics, and his departure from the APC is expected to have ripple effects within the party's structure, particularly in the Nasarawa Local Government Area.
