Former Kano APC Governorship Candidate Resigns

Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, who was the former governorship candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, has officially resigned from the party. His resignation letter, dated March 29, 2026, was addressed to the APC chairman of his ward in Nasarawa Local Government Area.

In the letter, Gawuna described his decision to resign as voluntary and expressed appreciation for the opportunities he received during his time as a party member. Although he confirmed his exit from the APC, Gawuna did not disclose his next political move.

His resignation comes amid growing political realignments among political actors in Kano State as they prepare for future electoral contests. Following his resignation, Gawuna met with former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, indicating ongoing political consultations within the state.
