Gawuna Resigns from APC, Bashir Ahmad Expresses Concern

Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to the president, confirmed via his X account that Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC). Ahmad expressed his disappointment, stating that Gawuna's departure is not a good development for the party.

Gawuna, who was the APC's gubernatorial candidate for Kano State in the 2023 general elections, submitted his resignation letter dated March 27, 2026. The letter indicated that his resignation from the APC would take immediate effect and was in compliance with electoral law ahead of upcoming political activities.

Additionally, Gawuna also resigned from his position as chairman of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), further indicating a significant shift in his political affiliations and roles.
