Gunmen Kill Plateau District Head Samuel Alaket in Ambush

On Tuesday, around 7:30 PM, gunmen ambushed Samuel Alaket, the district head of Gwand in Bokko Local Government Area, as he was returning home from attending a traditional council meeting in Daffo. The attack occurred near the border of Sha District, where the assailants targeted the vehicle carrying the traditional ruler.

Alaket sustained severe injuries during the ambush and was rushed to a nearby clinic for emergency treatment. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of medical personnel, he could not be saved.

Community member Aten Pukat confirmed the incident, describing the killing as a devastating loss for the people of Gwand and the entire Bokko area. The attack has thrown the traditional council and residents into mourning, with condolences pouring in from community leaders following this tragic development.

Efforts to reach a spokesperson from the Plateau State Police Command for further comments were unsuccessful.
