Kwankwaso Names Gwarzo as Kano Governorship Candidate

On Friday morning, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, announced Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo as the anointed gubernatorial candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kano State. This declaration comes after Gwarzo, who previously served as the deputy governor of Kano State, resigned from his position in March, which was precipitated by an impeachment notice from the Kano State House of Assembly.

Kwankwaso's decision was made following a series of closed-door consultations with political stakeholders within the Kwankwasiyya Movement to prevent internal friction ahead of the official primaries. Gwarzo's selection is part of a broader strategy, as Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, the former All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, will now contest for the Kano Central senatorial seat.

Kwankwaso expressed his delight in the announcement, emphasizing values of equity, loyalty, and unity within the party as they prepare for the elections.
