Kwankwaso to Announce Gwarzo as Kano Governorship Candidate

Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, is anticipated to announce Aminu Gwarzo as the preferred candidate for the Kano governorship election.

Gwarzo, who previously served as deputy governor, stepped down in March amid political crises that reportedly led to an impeachment notice against the state assembly. Following Governor Abba Yusuf's defection from the All Progressives Congress to the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Gwarzo emerged as the consensus choice after extensive internal deliberations within the Kwankwasiyya political structure.

The discussions included efforts to accommodate Nasiru Gawuna, the former APC governorship candidate, who reportedly declined offers for a deputy governorship position or a senatorial ticket. Gwarzo's political loyalty and alignment with Kwankwasiyya ideologies have made him a suitable candidate.
