JUST IN: Makinde, Southern PDP Stakeholders Meet Over Zoning as Wike’s Camp Boycotts

Southern stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) met in Lagos to discuss zoning arrangements for the upcoming national convention. The meeting, chaired by Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, aimed to shape recommendations for the distribution of party offices and the 2027 presidential ticket.

Key figures present included Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, former Deputy National Chairman Chief Bode George, and former Governor of Osun State Olagunsoye Oyinlola. However, notable absentees were loyalists of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, who deemed the meeting illegal and premature.

The Wike camp accused the organizers of sidelining key party members and attempting to manipulate the zoning process. Despite dissenting voices, the Southern PDP stakeholders affirmed their loyalty to the party and vowed to resist any attempts to undermine the collective aspirations of Southern Nigeria within the PDP.
