PDP Leaders Move to Retain Chairmanship in North, Presidency in South

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders from the South have resolved to retain the party's national chairmanship in the North while insisting that the presidency must remain in the South. This decision was made at the PDP Southern Zoning Consultative Summit held in Lagos, attended by key figures including Governors Seyi Makinde and Douye Diri.

The meeting lasted for an hour and included discussions on the party's leadership positions. Governor Makinde explained that the resolution would be presented to the National Executive Committee on Monday, with further consultations to follow.

Despite some divisions on the issue of the presidency, the majority opinion at the meeting was in favor of the zoning arrangement. The decision on the chairmanship position remaining in the North and the presidency in the South will be crucial ahead of the party's national convention scheduled for November in Ibadan.
