JUST IN: Makinde Speaks on Zoning as Details Emerge From PDP Southern Stakeholders Meeting

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde addressed the issue of zoning during a consultative summit held by Southern stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos. The meeting, attended by key party figures, focused on the zoning arrangement ahead of the party's forthcoming congress.

Makinde dismissed personal animosity within the party and emphasized the need to focus on rebuilding the party's strength before discussing the 2027 presidential ticket. He highlighted the PDP's recent strong showing in state elections as evidence of its continued relevance in Nigerian politics.

The summit faced criticism from PDP leaders aligned with Nyesom Wike's camp, who deemed it illegal and accused the organizers of sidelining certain party members. The decisions made at the summit will be presented to the National Executive Committee for final approval on Monday.
