NDLEA Arrests Ex-Councillor Sheleru Sadiq for Drug Possession

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested Sheleru Sadiq, a former councillor who represented the Orimedu community in Ibeju Lekki Local Government Area, Lagos State, on March 2. During an operation led by the agency, 40 kilograms of skunk, a potent strain of cannabis, were discovered concealed within her residence.

NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi confirmed that Sadiq admitted to owning the illegal substance found in her home. Following her apprehension, she was taken into custody as part of the agency's ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in Nigeria.

Sadiq previously served two terms as a councillor and is currently working as a legislative aide. The NDLEA has been conducting numerous operations across the country, resulting in multiple arrests related to drug trafficking.
