The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested Femi Babafemi, a former two-term councilor of Ibeju Lekki Local Government Council in Lagos State, on March 2, 2023. The arrest followed credible intelligence regarding illicit drug sales.

On the same day, a separate operation in Kogi State led to the interception of 1,550 kilograms of synthetic cannabis concealed in a stand fan carton, belonging to a 36-year-old Cameroonian suspect.

Further, on March 4, another operation intercepted a commercial bus carrying 500 improvised explosive devices in Kogi State.
