NFF Appoints Dr. Ayo Abdulrahaman as NPFL COO

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) appointed Dr. Ayo Abdulrahaman as the new Chief Operating Officer of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Friday, coinciding with the kickoff of the 2026/27 season. The announcement was made on the same day that the NPFL season opened with a match between Shooting Stars and newly promoted Inter Lagos at the Adamasingba Stadium in Ibadan.

Abdulrahaman's appointment took immediate effect and was part of a broader restructuring initiative by the NFF, which included a directive issued on August 27 for all board members and chief executive officers of various leagues, as well as chief operating officers not part of NFF staff, to vacate their positions. Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme, appointed as the interim General Secretary of the NFF, confirmed Abdulrahaman’s appointment, stating it aligned with the federation's restructuring efforts.

Abdulrahaman will oversee the operational administration of the NPFL as clubs begin their campaigns in the new season.
