Dikko Meets Tinubu to Discuss Nigeria's Sports Development

On Thursday, Shehu Dikko, the Chairman of the Nigeria Sports Commission, met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The meeting was described by Dikko as routine, aimed at presenting the commission's report and outlining plans for 2025 and 2026.

Dikko expressed satisfaction with the commission's achievements, noting that Nigeria secured nearly 375 medals across various competitions, contributing 1.2% to the nation's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the third quarter of the year. The sports sector attracted approximately $50 billion in private investment, creating close to 140,000 jobs.

Dikko emphasized the importance of grassroots development and the introduction of junior athletes at the 38th National Sports Festival. He also confirmed that the Nigeria Football Federation filed a complaint with FIFA regarding irregularities in the World Cup qualification process.

Additionally, President Tinubu approved the constitution of the Nigeria Anti-Doping Agency's board, aiming to fulfill requirements set by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
