Plateau State Imposes 48-Hour Curfew After Jos Attack

The Plateau State Government declared a 48-hour curfew in Jos North Local Government Area after a deadly attack that occurred late on Sunday night, resulting in several fatalities and injuries. The incident, described by Commissioner Joyc Lohya Ramnap as a barbaric and unprovoked attack on innocent citizens, prompted urgent action from the state government to restore order.

The curfew took effect at midnight on Sunday and is expected to last until April 1, 2026, restricting movement within Jos North. Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang assured residents that security personnel have been deployed across flashpoints to prevent further violence.

He urged the community to remain calm and support ongoing investigations. The attack has disrupted daily activities, with businesses closed and academic activities at Jos University postponed.

Deputy Registrar Emmanuel Madugu advised the university community to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary movement, while security agencies continue to monitor the situation closely.
