Police Confirm Bandits Kill Five, Including Officer, in Benue Attack

The Nigerian Police Force in Benue State confirmed that bandits killed five individuals, including a police officer and four civilians, in an attack in the Kwande Local Government Area. The State Police Command's spokesperson, DSP Edet Udem, issued a statement on Wednesday in Makurdi, detailing the incident.

The attack occurred on the 3rd of February when suspected armed bandits targeted police personnel stationed in an abandoned community. The assailants also confronted community members during the incident.

ASP Jato Aka, the Police Officer in charge of the Kwande LGA, received information about the attack. Following the incident, a combined team of police operatives and security agencies mobilized to secure the area and conduct a thorough search.

Mr. Ifeanyi Emenari, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, directed the immediate deployment of additional personnel and armored carriers to track the perpetrators and restore peace in the area.
