Bandits Kill Police Officer and Four Others in Benue Community Attack

In a tragic incident in Benue State, bandits attacked a community near the Cameroon border, resulting in the death of a police officer and four civilians. The attack occurred during a market day, with the bandits looting stalls and setting the market on fire.

Former councillor Lawrence Akerigb reported the attack, listing the victims whose bodies were recovered. The police, led by spokesperson Udeme Edet, confirmed the five casualties.

Efforts were made to secure the area, with Deputy Commissioner Ifeanyi Emenari directing immediate action. The community has suffered from repeated violent attacks, highlighting the ongoing security challenges in the region.
