Police Allegedly Plot to Re-Arrest Journalist Fejiro Oliver on New Charges

The Delta State Police Command is allegedly attempting to re-arrest journalist Fejiro Oliver on new charges to prevent his release on bail. Oliver, born Tega Oghenedoro, has been in custody since September 18, 2025, facing accusations of cyberstalking and defamation.

The police plan to file fresh charges based on a petition by Stella Okotete, a Senator, with alleged backing from Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. Despite ongoing legal proceedings, the police aim to keep Oliver behind bars.

Rights groups have criticized the prolonged detention, labeling it as persecution of journalism. Oliver's legal team continues to contest his detention as an attack on press freedom.
