Political Aide Fired After Urging Tinubu to Resign

Osborn Ubong Okon, a political aide to Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno, was relieved of his duties after publicly calling for President Bola Tinubu to resign. Okon expressed his frustrations regarding the current security situation in Nigeria, particularly highlighting recent incidents such as the abduction of pupils and a teacher in Oyo State.

His comments were made on a Facebook post where he stated that in a sane climate, President Bola Tinubu would respectfully honor a resignation. Following the post, which went live just hours before, the office of the political adviser issued a letter terminating Okon's appointment with immediate effect.

Governor Umo Eno emphasized the importance of maintaining a good relationship with the federal government and the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), ahead of the 2025 elections.
