JUST IN: Presidency mocks Atiku, Obi, El-Rufai after ADC’s defeat in by-elections

The Presidency has taken a dig at opposition leaders Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi following the defeat of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in recent by-elections. The All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged victorious in the polls, securing 12 out of the 16 seats contested.

Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga mocked Atiku and Obi in a social media post, sharing a photo of an ADC member captioned "market." The by-elections were held to fill vacant seats left by lawmakers who either died or resigned ahead of the 2023 general election. The elections took place across 12 states, with Zamfara's 13th exercise later declared inconclusive.

The APC claimed 12 seats, while the Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) secured 2, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got 1, and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) also won 1 seat. The Zamfara contest remains unresolved.
